Various Applications of CCUS

RESEARCH

We’re based in Daegu’s innovation hub

To realize the international commitment of The Paris Climate Agreement to reduce carbon by 2050, all countries have submitted their NDCs.

At Arstroma Research Center in Daegu, we are doing our best to bring together experts from various fields who will participate in technological improvement in line with these changes and efforts of each country.

APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

Changing the future of environment means thinking differently.

As the utilization of CO2 increases, many companies invest in carbon capture, and the captured carbon enriches people's lives.

ALGAE CULTIVATION

Daegu, Korea

CO2 is being used to accelerate the growth of microalgae. Microalgae culture, which has been active recently, can absorb carbon dioxide much faster than any other biomass source.

CHEMICAL SYNTHESIS

Daegu, Korea

Captured CO2 as a chemical feedstock can be converted into a variety of products. It can be utilized to produce polycarbonate (using a zinc-based catalyst) or other organic products.

CARBON MINERALIZATION

Dangjin, Korea

Carbon dioxide from sources such as flue gases reacts with minerals such as magnesium oxide and calcium oxide to form stable solid carbonates.

ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY (EOR)

Dangjin, Korea

EOR is a method of injecting captured CO2 into a depleted oil field to increase the amount of oil to be extracted from the well.
